about

While most of Duo Brothers’ instrumental jams place you somewhere floating in the cosmos, the second single off their third album, lands the spaceship in the Middle East — specifically in the band’s hometown of Tel Aviv. “Not Everything Tastes Like Falafel” was also the first song the band recorded in the sessions that birthed Cream and Sugar — and marked new territory for the quartet. Where past Duo Brothers albums were built upon guitarist Yonatan Levy’s melodies and song structure, “Not Everything Tastes Like Falafel” was created by the band writing together from scratch — and set the path for the spontaneous collaborations of Cream and Sugar. “It all clicked right there,” says Levy. “We knew we were going in the right direction.” The track bounces between deep, heavy funk and a twinkling Middle Eastern guitar melody set adrift by Levy’s wah-wah pedal — the perfect first taste of Duo Brothers’ latest creation.
